The Land I Love

Back East

I was born and raised on Prince Edward Island and went to university in Nova Scotia. This, the unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq, is where I feel most rooted and at home.

Up North

I lived in the Arctic for many years alongside Inuvaluit and Gwich'in people who cherish their land.  While there, I travelled through Yukon and ventured over to the Alaskan coast.

Out West

I lived in Vancouver for several years and travelled throughout B.C. and Alberta, marveling at the enormity of the mountains and the forest. 

Down South

I have been fortunate enough to visit many places in the south hemisphere - the South Pacific, Africa, Australia, and the Caribbean - sites of incredible beauty and northern exploitation.

Through the Highlands and Islands

I have many Highland ancestors, and I have loved visiting the places where they walked, remembering their sad displacement and understanding their longing for home.

Over in Ireland

My ancestors migrated from all corners of this magical island, the only country I know of that is named after a goddess. You can feel that divine energy emanating from the earth.
